A hybrid of real-time strategy and roleplaying game, the game is focused on multiplayer mode with thousands of people from around the world playing at the same time. The mechanics are similar to Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders. The developers prepared both multiplayer modeled on MMO productions, and a single-player campaign.

Kingdom Under Fire II is, like the other installments in the series (A War of Heroes, The Crusaders, Heroes and Circle of Doom), a hybrid of real-time strategy and roleplaying game, but the difference is that this time the creators – Korean Studios, Phantagram and Blueside – rely on multiplayer mode, enabling thousands of players from around the world to battle. Action Kingdom Under Fire II yet again takes us into the world of Bersi, reminiscent of Europe of the Middle Ages. This time however, a third faction joined the constant war between the Human Alliance (elves and humans), and the Dark Legion (Orcs and Ogres) – Encablossa ( mutants and monsters) from another dimension. Of course, due to the emergence of a new race, new heroes with unique appearance and abilities join the characters known from previous games . During the game we will visit a huge continent and the previously unknown lands.

Gameplay

As you might guess, at the beginning we have to chose one side of the conflict, and then do everything in our power to dominate others. To do this, we create a powerful army and carry it into battle. However, if our opponent is too powerful, we can always join forces with other players. Battles are truly epic, as on the battlefield several-thousand armies meet. Particularly spectacular are the sieges of castles and fortresses, which the creators modeled on the scenes from films such as The Lord of the Rings and Kingdom of Heaven. The attackers are trying to get through the walls by throwing ladders, catapult attacks, and attempting to breach the main gate, while the defenders try to keep repairing damage and prevent invaders’ invasion. Fighting on the walls of the castle is also a normal thing. Our avatar (at the same time, the commander of troops) takes part in the battles, whose activities we can direct from the perspective of the first or third person. Invading enemy territories and defending our own lands is not everything that the creators decided to fill our time with. We can also, as in a typical MMORPG, chat with other players, form alliances, trade with them, and create guilds, which, in turn, can transform into an even larger group.

Although the main attraction of Kingdom Under Fire II is just online gameplay, the developers also prepared a single player campaign, reminiscent of that known from The Crusaders, although more complex and having a more interesting storyline. Although our progress during solo play does not affect the world in multiplayer and vice versa, after completion of the campaign we do get some additional elements that we can use in the course of battles with live players.

Technology

Compared to the previous parts in Kingdom Under Fire II series, the gameplay system has been improved, most of all the management of units – now it is more intuitive, while allowing the use of different, even more complex tactics. The game is characterized by excellent audiovisuals, while advanced graphics engine allows the presence of thousands of units on the screen at the same time.
